Oak Wilt
Oak Wilt is a serious and often fatal tree disease caused by the fungus Bretziella fagacearum. It affects oak trees, particularly red oaks, which can die within weeks of infection. The fungus spreads through root grafts between nearby trees and by beetles that carry spores from infected trees to fresh wounds. Infected trees typically show symptoms like leaf discoloration, wilting, and premature leaf drop. Oak Wilt is a major concern in the Midwest, and managing it involves removing infected trees, avoiding tree wounds during high-risk periods, and sometimes applying fungicides. Oak Wilt Moratorium is from April 15th to July 1st each year.
Emerald Ash Borer
Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is a destructive invasive beetle that attacks ash trees. Originally from Asia, it has spread across North America, killing millions of trees. The beetle’s larvae burrow under the bark and feed on the tree’s vital tissues, blocking the flow of water and nutrients. This damage causes the tree to weaken and eventually die, often within a few years of infestation. EAB is difficult to detect early and spreads quickly, making it a serious threat to ash tree populations.

Tree Care Tips
Even healthy, mature trees benefit from a little routine care. Keep an eye out for dead or damaged branches and have them pruned as needed to maintain safety and structure. Mulching around the base helps protect the roots, regulate soil temperature, and reduce competition from grass and weeds—just be sure to keep mulch away from the trunk. Avoid damaging the bark with lawn equipment, and check your trees periodically for signs of pests or disease. A bit of regular attention can help your trees stay strong, safe, and beautiful for years to come.

About Us
Hi, I'm Adam — a lifelong Wisconsinite, proud dad, and tree care professional with a passion for the outdoors. When I'm not climbing trees or helping clients protect their property, you'll find me spending time with my family, exploring the St. Croix River Valley, or enjoying a quiet morning with strong coffee and good conversation.
I started Down Right Tree Service not just as a business, but as a way to serve my community with integrity, safety, and respect for nature. I believe in doing things the right way — whether it's removing a hazardous tree or teaching my son the value of hard work.
Life's better when it's rooted in purpose, and I'm grateful every day to do work that keeps people safe and landscapes thriving.
